According to the US News and World Report Annual Ranking, five high schools in Pleasanton, Danville and San Ramon earned the prestigious Silver medal. Foothill High School and Amador Valley High School in Pleasanton received the award, as did California High School in San Ramon and San Ramon Valley High School in Danville. Monte Vista High School in Danville, which also services the communities of Alamo and Blackhawk, earned the award as well.

The magazine compiles the list each year of the schools it deems to be the best amongst all high schools, public, private and charter. Only 110 of California’s nearly 1,839 high schools received silver or gold rankings, placing them in the top 6 percent of high schools in California and the top 2.6% nationwide.

Gold medals went to the top 100 schools in the country. Silver medals went to the next 461 highest rated schools nationwide. The school are ranked based on college readiness and student performance. A total of 21,876 schools were evaluated.

Congratulations to these five schools. It is a great honor to be selected for this award. We know we have great schools here in the Tri-Valley but it’s always nice to have that validated by an outside source!
