A Sushi Secret in Blackhawk

is one of those little secrets you would rather keep for yourself.  Its location at Plaza has historically meant that it was considered off the beaten path, but given the shopping plaza’s recent renaissance, it will likely no longer be that quiet neighborhood secret.  Thanks to the resurgence of Blackhawk Plaza with the influx of other top restaurants and new shops, more and more people will likely discover Yotaka for themselves.

The Yotaka staff are always so very attentive and eager, and the elegant ambiance is always soothing.  Lest you think this is a frou-frou Japanese restaurant, have no fear, there is a full bar for those who would rather sit close to the sushi chef action and watch sports on the flat panel television.  And children are always welcome.  You often see young families at Yotaka.

Diners are immediately greeted with warm hand towels and bowls of edamame.  One favorite is the Nicole Roll, named for the owner’s daughter - this roll is filled with spicy tuna, tempura shrimp and avocado, drizzled with a tangy sauce that just rounds out the flavor so well.  The cool spiciness of the tuna and the warm, sweet salty crunch of the tempura just complement one another so nicely.

If you’re ever in the mood for fresh sushi and fantastic Japanese food, pay a visit to Yotaka.  And try not to tell anyone else our little secret.
