Livermore is Over a Barrel

If you like wine, this weekend is for you. The Livermore Winegrower’s Association is holding its second annual Barrel Tasting Weekend on Saturday and Sunday, March 20-21. Last year’s event was such a huge success that they decided to do it again, only bigger. There will be 27 wineries taking part in this year’s activities.

To participate, purchase your tickets in advance at the Livermore Winegrower’s Association website. Last year’s event sold out, so don’t wait if you want to go. Select your starting winery and off you go. At your starting winery, you will receive a wine glass and a wristband. Each participant is guaranteed at least on barrel sample at each winery. You will also have the chance to purchase discounted wine futures at many of the wineries. A wine future is a bottle of wine before it is bottled.

Meet the winemakers, enjoy the wine, see how wine is made and more. This is a great way to spend the weekend with someone special. Send the kids off to Grandma’s and spend a weekend in Livermore, maybe even book a hotel room for Saturday night. The Livermore valley is an increasingly influential region for wine making in California and it is right here in the Tri-Valley. And I am certainly doing my part by tasting (er… okay drinking) as many Livermore wines as possible to support the local economy.
