The Alameda County Fair was a huge hit again this year, with attendance dropping only slightly from last year’s record setting numbers in spite of the tough economy, heat, and other distractions. More than 418,000 people attended the fair this year, up 19% over 2008.

Live concerts were a big draw, and all were filled to capacity. Live acts included Uncle Kracker, Tower of Power, Grand Funk Railroad, and many more. As always, food was a big attraction. Fair patrons consumed nearly 80,000 corn dogs and more than 21,000 waffle cones! Was Joey Chestnut in town?
Add to that the many exhibits, agricultural exhibits and horse racing, not to mention the carnival rides and you can see that the fair was jam packed with activities for everyone. The Alameda County Fairgrounds and, more specifically, the fair itself, is a huge asset to Pleasanton, as well as the rest of the Tri-Valley. Just another of the many things that make the Tri-Valley such a wonderful place to live.
