The Village Theater in downtown Danville has recently enjoyed a renovation that has breathed new life into this already charming historic landmark. Dating back to 1873, the structure was originally constructed as a farmer’s lodge, and has been used over the years as a Grange Hall, movie theater and a church.
These days, not only is it a lovely performing arts theater, the lobby is now a beautiful fine arts gallery. The stage is used from everything from children’s theater performances to improv shows, and is home of the Role Players Ensemble.
The Village Theater Art Gallery is currently showing a stunning contemporary collection entitled Twisted-Chiseled-Fired, and will run until September 4th of this year. Future exhibits will include The Birth of Expressionism Exhibit, presented by the Eugene O’Neil Foundation, and Once Upon a Book: Showcase of Children’s Book Illustrators. Check out Gallery Hours here, and be sure to drop by this fantastic exhibit before the summer ends!
