Clip on those bike cleats and challenge yourself to one of the most grueling climbs in the Bay Area: Mt. Diablo.
On Sunday, October 3rd, a thousand cyclists will compete by beginning the arduous race from the base of the mountain at the Athenian School in Danville, and climb 3,249 feet to the summit of Mt. Diablo. Those who dare to climb and finish the 11.2 mile timed race will be greeted by prizes, food, and beverages at the top.
The 29th Annual Mount Diablo Challenge is one of several fundraisers hosted by Save Mount Diablo throughout the year to benefit their land conservation efforts. Riders of all ages are welcome (those under 18 need to be accompanied by an adult), and any type of non-motorized bicycle is permitted. Can you imagine uni-cycling up Mt. Diablo? It’s been done!
Register by September 10th and enjoy a reduced race fee. For more information, visit Save Mount Diablo.
