What better way to spend an August evening than hitting the Danville

1940 Ford

Hot Summer Nights Hot Rod and Classic Car Show, which kicks into gear Aug. 16.

More than 30,000 visitors are expected for the two-show event (part one was held in July). While the show, now in its 18th year, has traditionally been held the last week of August, it has been moved up this year so it won’t conflict with school and so traffic congestion can be avoided.

Car owners and enthusiasts from across the country plan their vacations around the Danville Hot Summer Nights Car Show. Some have specifically built or purchased a hot rod or classic with Danville in mind.

As in previous years, the event will be held on Hartz Avenue in the heart of downtown Danville.

You’ll see rare cars, powerful favorites from the 1960s, and other meticulously maintained beauties through the year 1976.

The prestigious “Town Choice Awards” will be presented to 20 car owners and one special owner will take home the “Best of Show” trophy. There will be live music and dancing in the streets and an array of food and beverage booths on hand.
