This scenic area features a blend of older and newer single family homes in a wooded golf course setting. Homes generally range from 2000 sq ft to well over 5000 sq ft. Lots range from 1/4 acre to over 1 acre. Many of the original homes were built in the late 1960's and early 1970's, with several newer homes sprinkled throughout. rebuilt. Many of the early homes in Castlewood were actually summer homes of the San Francisco
and Oakland elite. It has a fascinating history, and was the precursor to the famous Hearst Castle at San Simeon.
There are two golf courses in Castlewood Country Club. The hills course is located adjacent to the club house, and meanders through the scenic hills and home sites. The valley course is located below on the East side of Foothill Road. School Information:
